New Works

These are new paintings inspired by what feels to me like a psychedelic encounter with plants that I see in our travels both in the landscape and in Botanic Gardens. Painting locations incudes Thailand, Argentina, the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, Colorado and New Mexico. The exotic botanic “creatures” I have been enthralled with speak to me and give me a sense of, in the words of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, “Radical Amazement , Awe and Wonder”. I create a mixture of mostly observed but partially fictionalized portraits of these plants and come up with my own interpretation of their design, patterns and architecture. I use gouache and metallic watercolor.
