New Works

These are new paintings inspired by what feels to me like a psychedelic encounter with plants that I see in our travels both in the landscape and in Botanic Gardens. Painting locations incudes Argentina, the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, Colorado and New Mexico. The exotic botanic “creatures” I have been enthralled with speak to me and give me a sense of, in the words of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, “Radical Amazement , Awe and Wonder”. I create a mixture of mostly observed but partially fictionalized portraits of these plants. They are gouache and metallic acrylic. I like exploring the architecture, patterns and design of the plant, and placing it in a background similar to my surroundings.
